Same Kicks Different Day...

One of the best things about being a dentist is having so much free time. While there are days when we're almost tied down to the dental chair, it is easy for us to manipulate our schedule so that we're just busy in the morning, busy in the afternoon --- and we can even choose to be free (declaring holidays) on certain days, if we want.

For quite some time now, I have found better use of my free time. First, I was tutoring Koreans, until that became quite demanding. Second, I discovered my old passion for blogging and started "The Drama Queen Can Tell Stories" around October 2008. Third, I discovered freelance writing, and started to earn money for something that I love to do. I still wish to start a smaller business (selling clothes, shoes or bags) but that will have to wait until I figured out what to do. This is the best thing about being a dentist. We're in one place the whole day and we basically cannot go anywhere if we have patients coming; so by being a freelance writer, I am able to earn extra money while I sit in front of the computer (blog, browse, stalk people on Facebook and Twitter).

I've always been encouraging Bon to do the same. I told him, this is the best thing about our profession, we have all the time in the world to do other things that we love --- so i was so happy and proud of him when he launched: "Same Kicks Different Day" last month.

Bon is a lover of shoes. When we first started going out, eight years ago, I discovered his wild love affair with shoes that involved buying 7,000 peso kicks that he never really wore, buying more than one pair of shoes in a week, brushing his shoes every after he uses it, and having a large shoe cabinet with a glass door to display his collection. This obsession died down after College (because he got obsessed on cars and then motorcycles), but recently he's resurrected his love for shoes, but he has found a better means of appreciating it.
